Ft. Desoto Park
In recent years, Ft. Desoto Park has offer me terrific opportunities to photograph Spoonbill during the early morning hours. While the Spoonbill are NOT always there, I highly recommend visiting Area 1 and Area 2. if you visit the park often there is a good chance you will find them.
Area 1
Area 1 is my favorite part to photograph during early morning in the park. While this website is dedicated to Spoonbill, you will find other species like Reddish Egrets, Black Skimmers, Oystercatchers, Gulls and several others.
Normally I park my vehicle at the very top of North Beach parking lot and explore the area. This is the area I highly recommend as soon as you get to the park.

Area 2
During low tide, Area 2 can offer terrific opportunities in the afternoon hours. Spoonbills are not always there but this is an easy drive and is worth checking everytime you visit the park.
If you see Spoonbills, take your time and get out of your vehicle slowly as you may scare the Spoonbills away.
Whatever you do, make sure you follow the park rules and regulations.
